odors and perfumes
how do we discern them

can we possibly ignore
the power held by this
one sense we ought to be

in wonder a complex gift
bestowed freely on us

what would be the
best smell for you

just before dying
to make the severing
less difficult

freshly mowed grass

citruses blossoms tall
waves of the sea the
skin of your beloved

let me wear existence
to move easily around
infinitude of problems

mind never ceasing
grudges uttered
between harsh words

I forgot I was once clad
with petals and blossoms
delicate easing out

fragrances as dreams
you don’t pay attention
nor have some sense

of smell no more sense
ordinary days of wasting
away in full daylight

not sure if it’s a song
my ear gathers or a
story gently murmured

out of the blue water
sailing between ridges
innumerable notes

I listen to these secret
codes I lightly stare
at the creases an

opening on the
improvising

on a sunny day
the rumble of thunders
I think of the desert

I could ride these clouds
to the sound of the wind
the joy within breaking out

it’s a minute of shade
below a cloud graver tones
another minute of sunshine

brightness and exhilaration
intense the colors lighter
the sound and palette

could I wish loved ones
here this very moment
alive and not to be

embraced by this beauty
a still moment under
a moving sky
