it is a revelation
not one cicada
sounds the same

a butterfly sitting
by me admiring
something I lose

myself on such lightness
I use to tell children
to stop and to listen to

the songs of
butterflies as
they nodded back

the movement
the tired leg of minutes
made is our today

to slowly move eyes
around the perimeters
of shadow the sun

heating our skin
a few degrees too high
ears busy containing

a silence made of wind
shaking each palm tree
here and there a bird

a giant humming coming
from the mountains or below
maybe behind

we don’t know

what makes
the difference
between a word
and a scream

the curiosity
of seeing behind
past knowledge

to have the gaze
of who had never been
troubled by notions

foggy clouds
of opinions to be
carried away

swiftly over
the land disappearing
now light as dust

it is so climbing up
out of dreary thoughts

sweat and impervious
roads I leave everything

behind to find the unexpected
blossoms of three tiny flowers

at a cicada party
among the shafts

of wind pushing
clouds past me
